Nuestra Cuadra – Cuban Community Wall

This colourful mural, captured by Ian Livesey on the streets of Cuba, offers a joyful glimpse into the nation’s civic pride and collective spirit. The cartoon figures — a mother with child, a doctor lifting a baby, a man waving the Cuban flag — are brought together by the phrase “Nuestra cuadra linda y bonita” (Our block, clean and beautiful). Rendered in warm, simple lines and pastel hues, the artwork communicates themes of care, unity and national identity. Livesey’s photo preserves this vibrant slice of everyday Cuba, where even walls speak of community, family and optimism.
